About Sportswire
The world, by way of the match.
Sportswire is a daily wire about the world around the match. We believe sport is the lens, not the subject. A contest is a way into a city, a building, an economy or a life, and that is what we write about.
Every day the wire chooses the contests worth reading about and files them through thirteen desks. The Milan Desk reads the architecture. The Lagos Desk reads the street. The Berlin Desk reads the system that funds the game. The Analyst reads the accounts. Each desk keeps its own beat and its own voice. Every factual claim traces to a source, and we publish corrections.
Each dispatch carries the live chances for the contest, drawn from MagicMarkets, a peer-to-peer sports prediction market and our publishing partner. The chances show how the world sees a match before it starts, and how that view changes.
