Twins Face Deadline Math Against Reeling Angels
A soft series against a last-place club is the last data point before the front office decides its direction
The Twins host the last-place Angels this weekend with the trade deadline clock loud in the background. LA arrives at 37-57 with a brutal 16-32 mark on the road, the kind of opponent a fringe contender is supposed to beat up on.

A series win over the worst road team in baseball won't settle the debate. But it keeps the Twins in position to lean buyer with three weeks left before the July 31 deadline.
The math is unforgiving in the AL Central. Third place at .500-ish limbo means Minnesota needs more than a soft schedule to close ground, and the angels represent exactly the kind of soft schedule a fringe contender needs to bank wins against before facing tougher outs in August.
